What you can do: Volunteer for a trip; Organize a group to take a trip; Provide a platform from which to make a presentation; Be a messenger…the need continues to exist on the Gulf Coast; Tell your friends about us and what we do; and Help recruit skilled labor!!! |
Pickin' Up the Pieces (PUP) is working in conjunction with Camp Coastal Outpost , the Pearlington Project, and Walls of Hope to help rebuild the City of Pearlington, MS and other areas of Hancock Co. Hancock County is ground zero of Hurricane Katrina. We are currently working to provide for the citizens of that county. Pickin' Up the Pieces is assisting these groups by organizing groups of volunteers to travel to the devastated area to help in this effort. We are currently seeking both skilled and unskilled volunteers that are interested in participating in one week rotations.
It has been a meaningful experience to those who have come to the area and served in the many different capacities. It is very humbling to work along side with someone who has lost their homes. People who have been involved with Katrina disaster relief say that their lives will forever be changed. We are committed to giving our brothers and sisters hope. We plan to continue working in this area to help these precious people rebuild their lives.
If you are interested in serving in Hancock County, please contact us. In the weeks and months ahead we are going to need skilled people in almost every area. You can contact us at

Pickin' Up the Pieces accepts donations of supplies and financial gifts. We are developing teams of volunteers who are interested in making distribution and rebuilding trips to the Gulf Coast. If you have a trailer you are able to part with for a weekend, we can always use additional hauling capacity. Most of all, you can help by sharing your energy and your contacts. As a grassroots non-profit, Pickin' Up the Pieces' success is founded on assistance from the community. The greater our network of volunteers, the greater the need we can meet.
