PAIRING UP WITH HABITIAT FOR HUMANITY

We just had a group of 10 volunteers return from another trip to the Gulf Coast where we worked with Habitat and their One House at a Time Project . It is evident that the biggest need at this time is skilled labor, although we welcome any and all that want to help.

Pickin' Up the Pieces wants to recruit both skilled and semi-skilled individuals to participate in the rebuilding effort.  We need electricians, plumbers, framers, painters, carpenters, etc.

I will be contacting contractors over the next couple of weeks in an attempt to get them to "donate" an employee or employees for a week at a time.  If you know of anyone that may be a good person to contact, please contact us.

It is important to get as many people as we can down to the area to experience the destruction and continuing recovery efforts it in person.  I can't emphasize enough that they are still years away from being “rebuilt”.
